The Health Fair Is Coming Back to Leadville!
The 365 Health Fair—formerly called 9Health Fair—is coming back to Leadville on Saturday, April 29th from 8am to 1pm at Lake County Elementary School.
St. Vincent Health has partnered with the Leadville Lions to keep preventative health at the forefront of our community. The 365 Health Fair is a great chance for Lake County residents to get free and affordable health screenings done without the hassle or the price tag of a doctor’s appointment.
“We are so happy to bring this community-based health fair back to Leadville. The fair was offered in Leadville annually for 30 years before the pandemic. The free and affordable health screenings that are available are a necessary resource for our community members,” stated Savannah Crow, Community Outreach Specialist at St. Vincent Health and Leadville 365 Health Site Coordinator.
With the COVID-19 pandemic, many people postponed their annual physicals. Several other people lost their health insurance due to Bright Health exiting Colorado, and other insurance companies significantly increasing their premiums. The 365 Health Fair offers all bloodwork and screenings that can be done at an annual physical for a much lower price, and there is no insurance required. There will also be Spanish translators onsite, creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.
Available Screenings
The Leadville health fair will be offering over 20 screenings, including blood tests, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, vision, hearing, skin check, mental health, and many more. A few of the most popular screenings are detailed below:
- Blood chemistry test: This screening gives you a baseline check on your overall health with 28 different levels of information, including your cholesterol, blood glucose, liver, kidneys, thyroid and more. This can help you and your doctor monitor your health and prevent health issues from becoming emergencies.
- Hemoglobin A1C: This screening measures your average blood sugar level for the past 2 to 3 months. If you have diabetes, the results give an indication of how well your diabetes treatment plan is working. If you do not have diabetes, it can detect if you are at risk of developing diabetes.
- Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA): This screening measures a protein produced by the prostate gland and may provide an early warning of prostate cancer or other prostate problems.
For a full list of available screenings, or to register ahead of time, visit: https://365health.org/health-fairs/spring/674/index. Registration beforehand is optional and walk-ins are welcomed. Participants will also have the chance to speak directly with medical professionals for free.
Volunteer at the Health Fair
Every year, 365 Health relies on the dedicated support of medical and non-medical volunteers to participate at the health fair. All volunteers will receive a 20% discount on all of our preventative screenings. If you are interested in volunteering at the Leadville community health fair, please see the available openings and register at the link: volunteers.365health.org/agency/detail/?agency_id=106835. Some volunteers may be asked to help set up the day prior, April 28th, from 12pm-2pm.
