St. Vincent Health

Looking toward the future, St. Vincent General Hospital District has embraced the concept of a health campus where specialists, primary care, Lake County Public Health Agency, and other health-related offices reside in the old hospital building and synergistically complement services in the adjacent, new hospital facility.

The St. Vincent Family Health Center drive-up testing clinic at 735 Hwy. 24 S. is currently closed and will reopen on Monday January 10, 2022, as an appointment-based service.

Any vaccination or booster appointments currently scheduled for January 7, 2022, will still take place as scheduled, and patients with these appointments should go to the basement level of the St. Vincent Family Health Center.

When the drive-up testing clinic reopens, appointments will be available from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Friday mornings from 8-11 a.m. The COVID clinic will administer vaccinations and boosters on Friday afternoons by appointment. Anyone interested in scheduling a COVID test or a vaccination should call 719-486-0230 and press 2 to reach a scheduler. Please be patient as St. Vincent Health (SVH) is experiencing large call volumes.

Vaccinations are also available at Lake County Public Health on Wednesdays. For more information email

People have asked why the clinic closed in the last days of 2022. St. Vincent Health opened the free drive-up testing clinic in August 2021 to answer a growing need in the community. The clinic expanded to include vaccinations and boosters on Fridays beginning in December. While these COVID services remain a high priority, SVH has experienced staffing shortages as staff members intermittently need to quarantine or isolate due to COVID or exposure to the virus.

“Our free COVID-testing clinic was one of a very few walk-in testing clinics operating in Colorado, we feel it is a very important service and endeavored to provide testing without requiring an appointment,” said Chief Branding Officer Karen Onderdonk. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Lisa Zwerdlinger added, “As the volume of people requesting tests grew and staffing decreased, the clinic could no longer accommodate unscheduled testing appointments – though our commitment to offering testing remains strong.”

The St. Vincent Health free COVID-testing clinic was averaging 25 to 50 people per day since opening in August. In the past weeks, more than 100 people per day have requested drive-up tests.

Testing resources and clinics throughout Colorado are in short supply. Due to this, not everyone who wants a test is able to get one. Regional testing options can be found at this website: Also Safeway, area pharmacies and Walmart stores may have over the counter-testing supplies – however call first, as the inventory becomes depleted frequently.  Please review the recommendations below.
